In this current era of iPhones, turning over book leaves, of course, just isn't enough. I thought I would give you my favourite apps, as they have been lots of fun and nice to spend time with when waiting for sleep during these past months. I found plenty of apps, but only a few of them are really good. I haven't bought any expensive ones but I think out of these, only Babycenter's is for free. Lite versions of most of them do exist but they suck!
* Babycenter with their daily reading is good. Only problem is that I always read so far in advance that when the right day arrives, I have already read it many times and it's kind of old news. When the baby enters a new week in pregnancy, there is some interesting reading with great illustrations but the other days it's mainly about being pregnant. Nevertheless, this could be interesting aswell - so that one can be aware of what our SM's might be experiensing. For me, it is also a reminder of how it was.
* Baby Pregnancy Tracker (by Tulips s.a.r.l.) is a quite nice one with good pictures. The tracker shows how far you are in pregnancy, you get weekly "news" and some different kind of fun stuff, like the Chinese gender calendar, baby horoscope, eye colour calculator etc.
* I'm Expecting (by MedHelp) is alright but not more than that, I think. It hasn't anything that others don't and is very much for those who are pregnant by themselves, allowing you to write a calendar with antenatal appointments and follow up your weight progress. But the weekly information is quite good and that's why I've kept it.
* iPregnancy (by Gregory P. Moore, MD) I do like a lot. Good welcome screen, information and scan pictures for every week. On the minus side, they don't have any other illustrations of baby's development. From 23 weeks you can read the survival and medical complications rates if the baby would be born now. That's unique for this app.
* Pregnancy (by The Smiles Factor Ltd) is my favourite at the moment. I love the messages that I am welcomed with each time. The weekly development update is great aswell. Good illustrations, truly beautiful!

On our own baby front I got great news today (33w6d). N does not have headache any more - she was helped by physiotherapy. Her blood pressure is stable aswell. Dr. Manisha wrote, that they are waiting for us. This really made me all warm inside. I'm having a whole butterfly farm in my belly soon :)
On my pumping front, I make progress, allthough it goes slowly. Right now I get about 200ml/day. This would be quite enough for a newborn. I have several bags in the freezer though, which feels great! I'm VERY stubborn in this nursing matter. I WILL SUCCEED!!
It is so wonderful that you are succeeding in your attempt to breastfeed. Well done. I wish I had of been able to :-( as I thoroughly enjoyed feeding the older girls. Not long now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the iPhone apps - maybe this will get me off of google!!. Do you have any more info on breastfeeding? - would love to try it, but not sure how to go about it?!.
ReplyDeleteSaskia, go to www.asklenore.com for induced lactation info :) You can contact Lenore Goldfarb by yourself through the web page. She is a great support and adviser!
ReplyDeleteGood luck, you will not regret!
