Today, I've got an email from dr. Manisha. She wrote to me so thoroughly and I very much appreciate her for doing that. As a nurse I have an "oversized" need of knowing all the medical facts. In addition, since I have been through a pregnancy myself, I kind of know what to worry about. This combination probably makes me the worst nightmare Intended Parent. :) Sorry... I never, ever mean to be troublesome. Only, knowledge is the only way to keep me calm. Luckily, everyone at SI seems to tolerate me just the way I am. Dr. Yash talks to me almost as if I was a colleague, using medical terms, giving me all the values etc. Thank you, dr. Yash! I must tell a little cute story to illustrate this: when dr. Sudhir and dr. Yash called to us to give us the positive pregnancy test result, I was busy putting Jennifer to bed for her nap. Hence, Agne answered the phone and received the good news. Of course, I could hear from his replies that we had a BFP. Smiling and happy, I came out from Jennifers bedroom when she had fallen asleep. Agne said that dr. Yash especially told him to remember the hCG value since "Anu wants to know it for sure". She was right, I did want to know the value!
This time, we got the result of a scan made 2nd of September (at 19w2d) and it is as follows:
"The liquor volume is still marginally less, the AFI is 9,3. The Cervix measures 3,5 cm and the Os i closed. Normal fetal cardiac activity and biophysical profile is seen. Nunchal thickness is normal. The baby's weight is approximately 300g and gestational age is 19 weeks and 2 days.
The scan also reveales normal resistance to flow seen in utero-placental and fetal circulation at this stage. As per expertise of dr. Yashodhara nothing to worry about since the flow is normal. However, since N is having high blood pressure, we have to monitor it through subsequent scans. At the moment the flow is normal, hence kindly do not be worried."
Dr. Manisha also wrote that N is feeling well. Poor N, she must be totally bored out at the hospital. I hope at least, they have a TV so she can be entertained with some Bollywood glamour. I wanted to surprise and comfort her with flowers, but obviously flowers aren't allowed at Hiranandani. I must check whether there is something else I can send to her by courier. The gift I plan to send from here will take several weeks to arrive. Of course, chocolate could be an alterantive, but I don't want to send her anything unhealthy. Well, I'll find out something for sure, just you wait! :)
Agne flew to Umeå today - a town in the North of Sweden - for a radiology week. He arrived in one piece, allthough the hurricane Katia is at the moment letting us feel what's left of her. Let's just say it's windy out there! As I was taking a walk with Jennifer and our dog this morning, we had to walk, leaning forward. Let's hope for better weather on his way home on thursday.
Until then, GROW, BABY, GROW!
